Fascinating moment male sambar deer fight to win female's love in northern India
Two male sambar deer locked horns inside a wildlife reserve in northern India's Rajasthan.
The incident took place at the Ranthambore National Park in Sawai Madhopur district on February 29.
Visuals showed the male deer fight one another, in an attempt to win over a female.
According to experts, the males engage in a fight during the mating period to establish dominance and the right to mate.
The Ranthambore National Park is home to leopards, tigers and crocodiles among other birds, animals and reptiles.
The sambar deer is a large deer, native to India, south China and Southeast Asia. It has been listed as a vulnerable species on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List since 2008
