Disinfectant oven to sanitise vegetables amid COVID-19 pandemic in central India

Joining the fight against the novel coronavirus disease, a civic body in central India's Madhya Pradesh came up with a sanitising machine that can sanitise a large quantity of vegetables.

The Indore Municipal Corporation innovated an oven to sanitize vegetables before delivery to free the veggies from virus.

Video shot on May 7 in Indore city showed an official pushing the crate of vegetables into the oven to sanitise.

While the oven sanitises the vegetables, the machine makes a noise as a blue light lits up. After a while, it stops, signalling the end of the process.

According to the reports, the over is named Neelabh, it can sanitize 100 kilograms (220 lbs) of vegetables in 30 seconds.

It uses Ultraviolet (UV) – C rays to destroy the germs.

The oven also has controllers and timers to carry out sanitization of vegetables.

The rays are said to be inside the oven and does not have effect on humans and it is said to be completely safe.
