Animal rescuers filmed let non-venomous snake bite his hand to eliminate employees trauma

An animal rescue officer in Indonesia let snake bite his hand while removing ratsnake from a workplace in West Sumatra province.

Footage filmed in an apparel manufacturer in Agam city on Friday (May 29) shows rescuers grab a five-foot-long brown snake hiding behind a chair.

Riki, an animal rescue officer from the Bukittinggi Reptile Animal Community (B-Reptanic), grabbed the snake's tail, but when the snake's head appeared immediately biting Riki's hand followed by screams from the apparel manufacturer employees.

Syawaldi, a senior animal rescuer, while filming this video asks Riki to let snake bite his hand several times to show traumatized employees that this snake is non-venomous snake.

According to Syawaldi, the snake was first discovered by employees when they saw a cat fighting with a snake at 6:00 a.m. They tried to catch the snake and planned to kill it. "Employees have ransacked the place to pieces but didnt find a snake. They reported to us to find and catch him."

After the non-venomous reptiles captured, animal rescuers socialized to residents the characteristics of non-venomous snakes.

Animal rescuers also show snake bites are not life-threatening. Their bites are only likely to itch.

B-Reptanic community brought the snake to its headquarters to quarantined. Snakes will be released back to their natural habitat if the condition of the snake is possible.
