In a miraculous rescue, locals saved four children from drowning after they were left stranded in a flash flood following heavy rain, which led to the rise of water level in northern India's Himachal Pradesh.

The incident took place at Hobaridi ravine of Bhattiyat Tehsil in Chamba district on June 10.

According to reports, the four children have been identified as Anjana, Vinod, Nikhil and Varun Kudi, left the house to visit relatives in Kuddi village. They are residents of Banet village.

On the way, they had to cross the ravine to reach the shore on the other end.

However, in the middle of the river, the water level suddenly increased with strong currents that left them stranded.

A girl in the group drifted for a few meters in a strong current.

Two children ran towards the shore seeing the strong current of water, however, a child got stuck in the middle of the ravine.

While he grabbed a stone to prevent himself from being washed away, the other children shouted for help.

Hearing their cries, people gathered around to rescue the stranded children.

The locals tied a rope across the ravine which would act as a support while they wade through the water to save the children.

The video shows a man crossing the river with a child on his shoulder while holding on to the rope.

According to reports, the incident left a girl distraught and was rushed to Chowari Hospital.

Sources suggest all four children are safe and escaped the incident without a scratch.
