World War-II monument in Papua New Guinea preserves ashes of hundreds of Japanese soldiers.

World War-II Monument, which was built by the regional government of Biak Regency, Papua, in 1992, is located in Paray Village.
In addition to its unique architecture, the atmosphere around this monument also feels more beautiful because it is located right by the beach.

Many local and foreign tourists who come here to explore the history of this monument.

To get to this monument, tourists have to travel a distance of about 15 minutes from downtown multiply by using ground transportation.

The architecture of this monument was designed by Hiroshi Ogawa who came from the Japanese cherry country.

In addition there is a special room containing the bones and ashes of hundreds of Japanese soldiers, another uniqueness is that there are many symbols carved into the parts of the monument and the shape of the building.

In the main part of the walls of this monument is made slightly curved, written in three languages namely Indonesian, English and Japanese.

While on the front there are 8 large stones with varying shapes and sizes that are located on the table like an altar.
The eight large stones symbolize the eight Japanese generals who died on the battlefield, while fighting against the allies at that time.
