Cameratrap reveals movements of buffaloes, bushbuck and biologists in Mgahinga National Park, Uganda
#Cameratraps have revolutionised field biology. By silently recording the passage of animals, day and night, they reveal which species are active when, and can even give an indication of population size if individuals can be identified by markings or herds can be counted as they pass the camera. I travel with one in my camerabag and set it up for a night or two whenever the opportunity arises.
Today's #BrightenYourDay video, my 86th to lift spirits in #Covid19 #lockdown, shows a sample of #wildlife activity along a trail in #Mgahinga National Park, #Uganda. Some of the animals clearly react to the faint glow of the infra-red light source or perhaps the scent of humans, but then carry on walking, browsing leaves or chewing the cud.
When you extract the memory card and slip it into your laptop, you know that the first and last thing recorded will be the person setting it up - but the excitement is finding out what happened in between? Click and find out here...
