This spooky clip from northern India of gym equipment moving on its own this Thursday (June 11th) sparked rumours of paranomal activity.

Locals first reported the eery sight of the lat pull-down machine swinging up and down apparently unaided in Kashiram Park in the Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh.

Police who arrived on the scene were reportedly baffled.

So, was some ghostly gym-rat working on his or her latissimus dorsi?

Or was there some other explanation?

Police did eventually solve the mystery: "excessive grease" on the machine.

They suspect practical jokers deliberately over lubricated the moving parts to create the ghostly prank.

Fear gripped residents of a neighbourhood in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh after a lat pulldown machine started operating on its own.

The spooky incident took place at the Kashiram Park in Nandanpura area of Jhansi district on June 11.

The video shows a lat pulldown machine swinging on its own without anyone sitting on it.

The incident left the police officers and residents baffled.

Some even purportedly connected the incident to the presence of a ghost in the area operating on the machine.

However, Jhansi police refuted the claims and said the machine moved on its own due to the presence of excessive grease.

Once tugged, the machine would be in motion without anyone touching it.

It is believed some miscreants took notice of it and decided to scare the residents.

The police too tried the same and were thus able to ascertain the presence of excess lubricant.
