Armed forces unearth huge cache of illegal explosives and ammunition buried inside forest in northeast India
A huge cache of explosives and ammunition was found buried inside a reserve forest and recovered by a joint team of army and police personnel in Assam, northeast India.
The footage was recorded in Chirang district of the Bodoland region on June 15.
Army personnel deployed in Chirang along with Assam Police, 210 COBRA personnel - a specialist jungle warfare unit - and six Battalion Special Service personnel unearthed illegal arms and ammunitions after a 12-day-long search.
The recovery was made buried deep inside the Chirang Reserve Forest.
According to local reports, the joint operation was launched based on information regarding the presence of illegal arms and ammunition in the forested area of Lal Pathar.
The suspected spot was located using metal detectors.
Digging further, the army and police personnel unearthed large amounts of firearms, ammunition, grenades, and rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) bombs.
According to an Indian Army, this is the second major success of the army and police in unearthing massive quantities of explosives and ammunition in the district.
