Scuffles broke out outside the ExCel Centre in London on Monday, where an arms fair is due to be hosted next Wednesday, as police intervened to disperse activists from the 'Stop Arming Israel' movement belonging to the charity group War on Want.

Police officers were seen grabbing and pushing protesters to the side of the road, as they tried to block deliveries to the venue by standing in the road.

The Executive Director of War on Want, Asad Rehman, said that the British government is "rolling out the red carpet for human rights violating regimes to buy the weapons of death."

"We no longer need empty words or crocodile tears, the government has to act, and the government has to shut down this arms fair and shut down this immoral trade," he added.

A protester deplored Israel's actions and their "brutal siege" of Palestinians in Gaza. "The UK government remains deeply complacent through their diplomatic ties and their financial ties with Israel's apartheid regime," she continued.

The protests are set to last all week, reportedly with a different theme every day.

The DSEI arms fair is held every two years and is considered to be among the largest of its kind.
