A pensioner had to be rescued after falling into the toilet and getting stuck there for five hours.

Kularb Thongperm, 65, was found stuck in the outdoor loo at the home in Ang Thong, central Thailand, on Saturday (June 14).

The man's nephew Winai Thongperm, 34, called the emergency services who had to use a hammer to smash open the smelly concrete water basin and free the pensioner.

Kularb said he was emptying his bowels in a water tank next to the squat toilet when his legs slipped through the sides.

He said: "I went into the toilet but the lavatory was full of faeces so I decided to do it in the water basin instead but I slipped and my bottom was stuck.

"I was in there with the waste for more than five hours before my nephew walked past the toilet and heard me calling for help.''
