Lucky skywatchers in certain parts of the globe have today (June 21st) been treated to a dramatic solar eclipse.

This time lapse clip was filmed in the Philippines at around 1 pm local time today.

The phenomenon is called an annular eclipse or ring of fire where the moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, leaving just a thin ring of light visible.

Solar eclipse spectators at Manila Baywalk were stunned by an unusual weather occurrence during the annular solar eclipse: heart-shaped clouds covering the eclipse while the sun's rays were finding it's way on those almost gray cumulus clouds. Then when the eclipse was visible already to the naked eye, heavy downpour showered the hot and humid environment of Manila and after the rain, a dramatic rainbow around the sun called halo draw enchanting view in the sky.
