Madurai a southern district of Tamilnadu also witnessed the deepest annual solar eclipse along with the other dozen of countries.

But what peculiar in Madurai is people will just know when the eclipse will start and when it will end with just a piece of wood placed in turmeric water. The ancient Tamils practice during the eclipses is they will place turmeric water in a big plate and will place a wooden rice stamper on it horizontally. The rice stamper will just stand without any support when the eclipse starts and will be like that untill the eclipse will get over.

Once the eclipse gets over the wooden stamper will fall like what you saw on the video. This event was witnessed in ezhil Rani s house she is a resident of Madurai. The family members clapped out of joy when the wooden stamper fell down and they then confirmed that the eclipse got over and they just went back to their jobs then.
