A pangolin was rescued by the forest department officials after it accidentally fell into a deep well of a village in eastern India’s Odisha.

The incident took place in Budhiapatana village in Odisha’s Cuttack on June 21.

According to reports, the mammal strayed from the forest into the adjoining village in search of food, and unwittingly tipped over.

The villagers spotted the scaled animal in the well and alerted the forest department, which rushed to spot to rescue it.

In visuals, the pangolin can be seen wandering around in an enclosed space, with food and water within its reach.

After being successfully rescued, it was brought into the wildlife range for medical inspection and is being said to be a five-year-old mammal.

It will be released into the wild after conducting a thorough medical examination.
