Two men injured when a bridge in northern India buckled under the weight of a truck carrying an excavator are now "out of danger," according to a local official.

Eyewitness video captured on June 22 shows the moment a truck crashed into the gorge below in the hill-state of Uttarakhand.

The vehicle carrying heavy machinery slowly edges over the bridge but the structure could not support the weight and tipped the truck into a gorge below.

According to eyewitness Kushal Kumar, Bailey Bridge in Munsyari is meant for light vehicles only.

Two people were injured in the incident, including the truck driver and the man in a white shirt seen following behind the vehicle. Both were being treated at a local hospital but according to local official Anil Shukla, the sub-divisional magistrate of Munsyari contacted by Newsflare on Thursday morning, the two men remain in hospital but are now "out of danger."
