Fourteen villagers were rescued by emergency crews after floodwater from a dam imprisoned them in their own homes amid heavy rains in Gujarat, western India.

The incident took place on June 22 in the small village of Mandvi, Kutch district.

According to reports, after the check dam in Bhasar started to overflow, nearby became homes inundated with water, trapping many residents.

Footage shows emergency crews using a rope to rescue the trapped villagers, including a young child and an elderly woman.

There were no reports of casualties.

According to reports, after the local check dam started overflowing in Bhasar village, water gushed in several homes, trapping multiple natives.

The cornered villagers were later rescued by civic body members successfully.

In visuals, the workers can be seen tied with a rope, rescuing the entrapped people, including an infant, from the flooded area.

While no loss of life was reported, there were huge losses on the part of vegetation and fauna.

The region recorded rainfall of about 102 mm (4 inches) in just two hours, with 112 mm (4.4 inches) recorded for the whole day of the incident.
