After having his shop mowed for a highway project, a shopkeeper in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh modified his Skoda four-wheeler into a mobile grocery store.

The makeshift shop was assembled by Jahid Rafi, a local store owner in Meerut.

‘Famous Kirana Shop’, as named by the owner, can be seen rolling on its wheels, in visuals from the scene, shot on June 24.

The shop banner across the car can be seen publicising the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

On having a closer look into the shop-cum-car, grocery items are exhibited, with an online payment QR code display for prompt payment.

A table-top fan can be seen in place to beat the heat and sweat of struggle.

Other than usual grocery items, the car also acts as an outlet for hot beverages and fresh vegetables.

This innovation is a decent showcase of the self-reliance mission (Aatma Nirbhar Bharat) that India is on.
