Rescuers pull survivors from wreckage of India bridge collapse

Rescue efforts were made in north India to save two men caught up in a shocking accident when a truck transporting machinery fell through a collapsing bridge into a gorge below.

The incident happened on June 22 around 9:00am at the Bailey Bridge on Munsiyari-Milam road in Pithoragarh in Uttrakhand.

According to eyewitness Kushal Kumar: "The bridge is meant for light vehicles but this truck carrying the heavy machine drive onto it, the bridge could not take the pressure and broke."

Two men were injured, including the truck driver and a man following the truck on foot. According to local official Anil Shukla, the sub-divisional magistrate of Munsyari : "Both are out of danger and are under treatment at local hospital."
