Two spooked Australian girls discovered a mysterious animal-like imprint underneath the sofa when they moved into their new London flat.

"We were really happy when the previous tenant gave us his sofa for a bargain. But then we looked underneath and discovered the creepy outline of what looked like a dead animal, like a squirrel or a cat! We could see this white, dusty powder forming the shape of the mystery creature, so we decided to open up the sofa and take a look inside."

The girls say they have since disposed of the "haunted" sofa.

But what was the strange dusty white powder? Why was it in the shape of an animal? And how on earth did it get there?

"We'd love to know if anyone has any theories because this mystery has got us totally stumped," they said.

And next time we rent out a flat, we'll bring our own furniture".
