Rag worm wriggling along rock baffles UK photographer
Footage shows a bizarre looking worm squirming along a rock formation on a beach in Whitburn, West Lothian, on June 2.
In the video, the purple and pink worm with hundreds of legs appears to shake its body to move around the rocks submerged in saltwater.
Wildlife photographer Dylan Hunter, from WeirdlyNaturalPhotography, said he chanced upon the strange creature during one of his walks in the water.
He said: "The worm was buried in the sand. Looks like a really tough tide washed it out."
The unusual-looking worm is actually a King Ragworm. They can grow for up to four feet.
They use the feathery legs at the back both to move through the water and as their primary respiratory surface.
