Forest officials rescue an 18-foot python after it attacked livestock in the village of Dhupguri, northwest India.

The incident took place on June 24, adjacent to Sonakhali Forest.

According to local media, the reptile entered the village to eat goats, that were tied up with rope.

The villagers heard a goat scream, but by the time they tried to save the goat, more than half was swallowed and killed in the attack.

Panic spread in the village, and on receiving the news, Binnaguri Wildlife Squad reached the spot to rescue the snake.

A local villager named Hasan suggested that the snake probably came from Sonakhali Forest.

Subhashis Roy, a ranger at Binnaguri Wildlife Squad, said they took the python and released it back into the forest after a medical examination.

Pythons entered the village to eat goats, tied with ropes. This afternoon a Python about 18 feet tall entered the village of Dhupguri adjacent to Sonakhali forest. Some villagers were trying to save the goat. The python was tied with rope, but by then the goat was killed in the attack. Seeing the large size python alive, panic spread in the village. Information of this has been given to the staff of Binnaguri Wildlife Squad. On receiving the news, forest official reached the spot and rescued the snake.

A local villagers named Hasan, said the snake probably came from the Sonakhali forest. The villagers came rushing to hear the sound of the goat's cry. By that time, the goat died of suffocation. On receiving the news, forest staff came and rescued.
