Security at a popular shopping mall were caught on camera saying they are advised by management to refuse entry to any single non-Arabic or non-white people, "especially Asian people". The policy, which was enforced across all of the state's malls, was apparently put in place as a "bachelor ban" - a way to restrict singles from entering the malls on Fridays. The policy also means that thousands of blue-collared male workers who have moved to Qatar without their families are in effect banned from entering any malls, potentially on their only off day of the week. The British tourist said he thinks the policy is "not very nice" and added that "it seems kind of racist".

Full Transcript:

Tourist: Why can't he come inside?
- Because they don't have families. We sell to English people, Arabics, then families.

Tourist: But I'm not family and I'm going inside.
- Of course.

Tourist: Why?
- It's the rules of the management. It's for American people, then families, then Arabic people, they can go along with a family. It's the rules.

Tourist: What kind of people? American?
- Yes. Then Arabics, then families.

Tourist: So only Americans and then Arabic people?
- Yes

Tourist: Well, what if he wants to come with me, this guy.
- Sorry?

Tourist: Can he come inside with me?
- No Sir, they can't.

Tourist: Why?
- Because we can read their face.

Tourist: You can read their face?
- Yes, we can read their face.

Tourist: What do you mean?
- If they're Amercian, Arabic (stops shopper) Excuse me - families, then Arabics.

Tourist: But I'm not an Arabic guy, and I don't have a family and I can go inside.
- But you are Amercian, right?

Tourist: I'm not, I'm actually English.
- Yes, you are the English peoples, right?

Tourist: Yeah.
- It's the rules of the management.

Tourist: Why?
- I don't know why, Sir. It's the rules of the management.

Tourist: Your managers, they tell you this? Really?
- Yeah.

Tourist: Who is your manager?
- Manager?

Tourist: Yes, who manages Villagio?
- His name is... he's from... He's our manager. His name is...

Tourist: Oh. And it's his law? Or who is making up this law? This isn't very nice, you know? What about you? If you were to come here on your own, you can't come inside?
- No.

Tourist: It's not very nice, is it? Where are you from?
- Nepal.

Tourist: You're from Nepal. So if some Nepal guy is coming here...
- Indians...Especially Asian people are not allowed inside.

Tourist: So you can't even let in your friends, or...
- Yes, even my friends.

Tourist: Wow. What do you think about that?
- Because we're under the management. It's the rule and regulation. This rule is not, family is family, you cannot enter without family. That is family.

Tourist: I understand it's not your law, your rule. But it just seems a bit unfair, you know? It seems kind of racist. I mean, what about this guy? Where is he from?
- He's Arabic.

Tourist: You can read it in his face?
- Yes, we can read it in their face.

Tourist: What if he's half Arabic, and half Filipino? Or Nepal? What do you do?
- Then we'll ask them, where are you from? Like that.
