Bars, strip clubs and brothels finally reopened in Thailand last night (July 1) as the country eased its coronavirus lockdown restrictions.

The adult venues had been the first to close and the last to reopen after ministers imposed strict rules in March to stop the spread of the pandemic.

There have been no locally transmitted cases of Covid-19 in the country for more than one month leading to all business starting up and domestic travel restrictions being eased.

While tourists are still banned from entering Thailand, the country's signature gogo bars and soapy massage outlets are operating again.

Footage today (July 2) shows the bars around the Nana Plaza on the Sukhumvit Road area of the capital and the Walking Street red light area of Pattaya on the country's east coast.

Bar girls workers must wear masks or face shields and do their best to follow social distancing guidelines while entertaining customers.

Government officials have not yet set a date for the country's tourism industry, which accounts for between ten and 20 per cent of GDP, to restart.
