A fire broke out at a 19th-century building in the centre of Moscow, Russia on Friday (July 3).

Footage shows firefighters responding to the fire on Tverskaya Street, which was extinguished after a three hour effort.

The building was built in 1890 and was undergoing renovation.

The fire was extinguished for more than three hours. Extinguishing was complicated by the fact that the building had a lot of combustible materials, it is old with wooden floors and partitions.
Information about the fire in the house number 24 on Tverskaya street was received at 13: 56 Moscow time. The fire occurred on the second floor of a six-story building. At the time of arrival of firefighters, open flames were observed on the second and third floors, the fire area was 50 sq. m. Later it grew to 800 sq.m. at 16:23 Moscow time, the fire was localized. It was caused by violations of fire safety rules during repair work.
The building was built in 1890 and is currently undergoing renovation. The burned-down house did not have a security status. Nevertheless, such houses form the image of old Moscow.
