This is the shocking moment a car bonnet came loose and flew into trailing traffic on a motorway in Thailand.

The vehicle was being towed to a garage after breaking down on a busy road in Bangkok, Thailand, on June 26.

However, the mechanic appears to have failed to secure the bonnet after the slapdash roadside repair job properly.

Dash cam footage from a motorist that was overtaken by the vehicle shows how the large metal sheet came loose and flew towards him, narrowly avoiding an crash.

The driver, Tanon, said he was shocked when he saw the bonnet hurtling towards him.

He said: "We were lucky enough that the sheet did not smash our front windscreen. If we had been a tiny bit closer it could have been fatal.''
