Man shoots elephant after it strays into farmland in southern India

A wild elephant was shot near the ear by a farmland owner after it entered his land in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

The incident took place in Mettupalayam of Coimbatore district on July 2.

In the visuals, the pachyderm is seen lying in the field after being shot at by the farmland owner as forest officials administer medical aid to the pachyderm.

According to the reports, the owner of the farmland had shot the elephant after it entered his land.

A passer-by on noticing the elephant bleeding informed the forest officials.

The forest officials immediately rushed to the spot and did everything to rescue the animal. However, the pachyderm lost its life due to internal injuries.
