A non-venomous Indian Rat Snake was found to be preying on a rat in a place of residence in northeast India’s Assam.

The incident took place on August 17, 2019, in Silchar, when the resident heard squeals of a rat inside his house.

The resident rushed to his washroom and found a snake feasting on the rat.

Visuals showed the rat struggling, pinned under the bodyweight of the reptile, while the snake tries to swallow it whole.

In a few seconds, the snake gobbles it down with little effort.

Subjecting a snake to stress right after a meal could lead to it regurgitating the prey, as Nath chose not to.

Later, the snake escaped the house premises calmly, through a drainage pipe in his washroom.
