Locals in Madhya Pradesh, central India rescued a calf stranded down a well on July 7.

The incident took place at a well in the vicinity of Rani Lakshmi Bai Girls' School in Chhatarpur.

According to reports, the calf fell into the well and was left stranded until a local spotted the animal.

After spotting the calf, the local resident called on his friends for help.

Footage of the incident shows a man tying a rope to his waist and rappelling down the well.

He is then seen tying the rope to the calf's back and neck.

After several attempts, locals at the top manage to haul the man and calf out of the well.  

Reports suggest the calf suffered minor injuries from the fall.

In a heartwarming incident, locals have rescued a calf stranded inside a water well in central India's Madhya Pradesh on July 7.

The incident took place at a well in the vicinity of Rani Lakshmi Bai Girls' School in the middle of Chhatarpur city of the eponymous district

According to reports, the calf had stumbled down into the well and was stranded there before being spotted by a local.

He rushed to the spot to assess and situation and alerted his friends, asking them to come for his help.

Several people gathered in the area in his aid.

The video shows a man tying a rope to his waist, attempting to rappel down the walls of the well.

Following this, he climbs down and ties a rope to the calf's back and neck.

After several attempts, the people on top hauled the man and the calf out of the well.  

Sources suggest the calf was minorly injured due to the stress from the fall.

After the calf was safely brought out, everyone sprang up and started thanking each other and then the calf was released following primary treatment.
