Marine officers dug up a leatherback turtle's eggs to move to a safer shelter in Phang Nga, southern Thailand.

The officers received a report about a turtle laying eggs on the crowded side of the beach on Tuesday (July 7) morning.

They went to check and found the eggs so they decided to dig them up and move them to a safer place.

The eggs were taken to the marine resource research centre and will be under the monitoring by experts until they hatch.

The chief officer of the national park Haritchai Ritthichuay delightedly said that the turtle laying eggs in the area could mean that the ecology feels secured for marine creatures.

He said: "We are delighted about the situation and it could mean that the ecology in the area had improved. This is what we have been working hard for."
