Officials use crane to rescue buffalo stranded inside pit for four days in western India

A team of officials have rescued a buffalo stranded inside a pit with a fractured leg in western India's Maharashtra.

The incident took place at Bhuigaon of Vasai Tehsil in Palghar district on July 6.

According to reports, the buffalo was hit by an unidentified vehicle and it fell into the pit while fracturing its leg.

It was stranded inside the pit for nearly four days before a team of officials rescued it.

The fire brigade team of Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation rushed to the spot to rescue the animal.

They tied a rope to its body while lifting it out of the pit using a crane.

The owner of the buffalo has not been identified but a few people have taken in the animal while treating it for its injuries at a stable in Nalasopara.
