A cool-headed firemen caught a python with one hand after it killed a family's pet cat.

Jirawat Iamlamai, 28, was contacted by a house owner Harithat Krueyai, 46, after her moggy went missing and he suspected a reptile had eaten it.

The snake wrangler found the 10ft long snake coiled up in a tire before he reached in with a single hand and plucked it out in Ang Thong, central Thailand.

Jirawat said that increasing numbers of snakes are searching for food and shelter in buildings due to rainstorms sweeping across the country.

He said: "We have been called out to a lot of snake cases recently, so it's important that people do not disturb them or try catching them by themselves as they can be very dangerous."
