Forest officials have escorted a tiger back to the forest, who had sought refuge at a goat stable almost knee-deep in water after heavy rain lashed northeastern India's Assam.

The visual came out of a goat shed in Kandolimari Village in Agoratoli Range of Kaziranga National Park on July 13.

The video shows a tiger ducking under the goat shelter while standing knee-deep in the flooded water.

Sources suggest the park officials took utmost care of ensuring the safety of the big cat and locals stranded in the area.

According to reports, after an 11-hour-long operation, the Kaziranga Park staff along with the rescue team members successfully guided the tiger back into the forest.

Sources suggest the locals maintained their calm and allowed the team to work relentlessly till the tiger was safe into the wild.

Dhemaji in Upper Assam and Barpeta in Lower Assam are the worst-hit because the water ranges in the Brahmaputra and its tributaries rose due to incessant rainfall since final one week.

Several embankments had been breached, and roads and bridges had been broken on account of rising floodwaters, based on reviews.

A total of 11 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams reached the flooded sites and evacuated 487 marooned villagers and transported them to safer places.

Besides teams are also assisting district administration in the distribution of mask, screening inundated areas and maintained proper social distancing due to Covid-19 emergency.
