Eco friendly cargo ship De Gallant arrives in Kent, UK

Dutch built Schooner 'De Gallant' arrived in Queenborough, Kent this evening (14 July) demonstrating a more echo friendly way of delivering goods to consumers.

The cargo ship is part of a 'Sail Cargo' project run by Rabel Charters and New Dawn Traders - an environmentally friendly and almost carbon-neutral way to deliver ethical / fair trade cargo by the traditional method of a sailing ship.

In Queenborough Harbour, after delivering goods directly to local customers, some of the cargo was also transferred to awaiting Thames sailing barge Dawn (including olive oil, coffee, chocolate, wine, sea salt and more) for transporting on to Sittingbourne, Faversham and Whitstable - with a Thames barge being more suitable for the shallow waters in those areas.
