Goldsmith, Radhakrishnan Sundaram Acharya from the city of Coimbatore in southern India has created real gold and silver masks, amid the coronavirus pandemic, to raise awareness on the importance of wearing face coverings in public.

The extravagant masks are created from four layers of gold or silver.

Acharya said: “The masks are both ornamental and also give protection to anyone who wears it. I designed it to be as flexible as cloth and give a rich look to the user."

He continued: “Turning the metal into 0.06mm thin threads was challenging, but I have a special instrument to weave the thread into a mask.

"This mask is now a trend of the upper-class people in southern India."

Goldsmith Radhakrishnan Sundaram Acharya hails from Thoppampatti pirivu of Coimbatore City tamilnadu South India. He came with the idea of making masks in gold and silver to create awareness among the public on the importance of wearing a mask during this pandemic.
He said “The masks are both ornamental and also gives protection to the one who wears it during the pandemic. I designed it in a manner that it is as flexible as cloth. It is designed to give a rich look to the users as well as complete protection. The masks have four layers. Three layers of cloth beneath a layer of Gold or silver.”
He also said that “Turning the metal into 0.06mm thin threads was a challenging one. Then I have a special instrument to weave the thread into the mask I was not using the weaver method.” Added the goldsmithh
This masks is now in the trend of the upper class people in South India.
