Several villages, along the major rivers in full spate, in northern India’s Bihar are submersed in water following heavy rainfall in the region.

The Bihar water resources department stated on July 18, that Bagmati river is flowing above the danger mark in several areas, similar to Kamla Balan river and the Mahananda.

Visuals from Jagiri Tola in Gopalganj, shot on July 12, show the plight of villagers coming together in tough times to help each other by preparing food and sharing amongst themselves.

Food sacks at risk of being damaged by floodwater have been kept safe by placing them at elevated spots in homes.

Disaster Management Additional Secretary Ramachandra stated two relief camps have been set up in Supaul and Gopalganj, housing over a thousand people, with several community kitchens in flood-hit areas, feeding over 11,000 people daily.
