Monitor lizard defends itself against barking dogs in Thailand

pet dog was barking at a monitor lizard which lash out - by whacking the pooch in the face.

The dog, named Apple, was walking with its brother, Cola, in Chonburi, eastern Thailand on July 18.

Owner Noon Pattanachan noticed the wild reptile on the path and the two dogs surrounded the creature, barking aggressively to stake out their territory.

However, the lizard was not backing down and with one flick of its tail, smashed the pooch across its nose.

Noon was shocked after seeing er pet being struck and called out for them to come back, before running over to bring them away from the lizard.

She said: "Apple was hurt and I think he will be traumatised
