Curious hyena cub carefully approaches GoPro before giving it a good lick

One of the advantages of living and working in the African wild is that you get to spend much more time in nature and near wildlife. With more time on my hands, I decided to visit a hyena den I have been watching for some time. I also decided for the first time to take my GoPro with and see if I could film any new creative and interactive shots. I was not disappointed.
Hyenas are notorious for chewing on foreign objects, hence my initial worry about losing an expensive piece of equipment. I decided to attach the camera to an extension pole and just held it hanging on the outside of my vehicle door. It was not long before one hyena cub slowly approached the camera, looking a little suspicious with its head held up high, sniffing the air. The curiosity of this hyena cub remained strong as it proceeded to shove its face into the camera, sniffing and licking the lens. Soon we were joined by the second cub and then the mother, all wanting to see what was going on. The second cub remained a little more nervous while the first cub continued to give my GoPro a serious licking, getting things really messy all over the lens.
