Worshippers in north London's Wightman Road Mosque were scene performing prayers while observing social distancing during Eid al-Adha.

Footage from July 31 shows many worshipers taking protective measures such as regularly sanitising hands, wearing protective clothing and socially distancing.

Worshippers pray at Wightman Road Mosque, also known as London Islamic Cultural Society and Mosque, in north London as they celebrate the festival of Eid.

Last month the government announced that gatherings of more than 30 worshippers are allowed for acts of communal worship in churches, synagogues, mosques, temples and other places of worship. All worshippers attending Mosques for Eid celebrations have to wear face coverings and bring their own prayer mat, Quran, and a reusable shoe bag.

Eid al-Adha, also called Eid Qurban or Bakra-Eid, is the second of two Islamic holidays celebrated worldwide each year, and considered the holier of the two.

Today the Prime MinisterBoris Johnson announced that it is now mandatory to wear face coverings in places of worship. All worshippers attending London Islamic Cultural Society and Mosque wear face coverings.
