STORYLINE:
Ten wild Siberian tiger cubs and seven Amur leopard cubs were bred in Northeast China Tiger and Leopard National Park from 2017 to 2019, according to the park administration.
China has launched a pilot national park project for Siberian tigers and Amur leopards, spanning an area of over 1.46 million hectares in the provinces of Jilin and Heilongjiang. Construction of the national park is scheduled to be completed this year.
The park administration has installed infrared cameras to monitor the activities of wild animals. It has also strengthened conservation efforts to restore and improve the biodiversity of the forests, which is crucial for the survival and reproduction of wild Siberian tigers and leopards.
Between 2017 and 2019, nearly 40,000 hunting tools were cleared and confiscated, and more than 150 wild animals were rescued in the area.
Thanks to continuous protection efforts, the living environment of these species in the park has been significantly improved, with a higher video shooting frequency of wild animals. Some rare species, like water deer, have been captured by infrared cameras for the first time in many years.
