Tropical Storm Isaias, which was recently downgraded from a hurricane, sent pounding surf onto the beaches of southern Florida on Sunday (August 2nd).

Footage showed some brave surfers taking on the thundering swell on Delray Beach.

Tropical Storm Isaias will best be remembered for sending dangerous surf into South Florida that eroded beaches and drowned sea turtle nests. At dawn Sunday morning, the surf was thundering to shore accompanied by gusty winds and occasional light showers. This video was shot in Delray Beach, Florida, where the beaches reopened at 10. Surfers and a few lifeguards braved the waves. Otherwise, there were a handful of beach walkers some with dogs plying the beach. The video clips that feature yellow markers are where sea turtles laid their eggs in nests in what was once dry beach. The nests that were inundated were destroyed. Fortunately, some nests up in the dune grass were still intact today.
