A greater alarm blaze erupted in a West Hollywood, California commercial structure Monday night. (August 3, 2020)

The fire started at about 8:45 p.m. local time at the 7400 block of West Sunset Boulevard, near Gardner Street, and there were 84 firefighters responding to the vacant building as of 9:10 p.m, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The extent of the fire is still unknown.

The filmer said: "I was driving down Sunset Blvd. heading east when I suddenly saw the thick black smoke and flames. Fire crews responded and diverted traffic away while attacking the flames. I could see a "firenado" as fire crews continued to attack the flames to stop it from spreading to other nearby businesses."
