A dustbin lorry toppled over hitting a pickup truck and crushing a motorcycle - miraculously avoiding killing the rider who leapt into a ditch.

The fully-loaded recycling truck was travelling to the depot when it lost control on a bend in Rayong, eastern Thailand on August 1.

CCTV footage shows how the speeding vehicle began teetering on its side then crashed into the silver Toyota.

It then toppled over towards the motorcycle rider, who saw the hazard and skidded to avoid crashing directly into the vehicle. Miraculously, he managed to jump out from under the falling contained and land onto the grass ditch.

Residents arrived at the scene of the crash and called the emergency services. The pickup truck driver Arunee Rinthara, 35, was taken to hospital after her vehicle hit an electricity post.

Motorcyclist Chawanan Yingmeesub, 15, was found in the ditch beside the road and taken to hospital.

Rubbish truck driver Mongkol Khlachalard, 29, had cuts and bruises as his truck flipped and bounced on the road three times in total.

Another passenger from the garbage truck was treated at the scene but was unhurt and did not need hospital treatment.

Local police said all damages payments will be further discussed between all subjects.

Police Captain Chanut from Nikhom Phattana district station said today (Aug 5) that the motorcycle rider was recovering in hospital.

The policeman said: ''The rider survived but he suffered a broken collarbone from where he fell. He is in hospital and still receiving treatment.

''He said he survived because he saw the truck falling over and rolled out of the way of the crash. He was also wearing a lucky Buddhist amulet which helped to protect him.

''When I watch the CCTV I am still amazed that he survived. It was very, very lucky.''
