This is the gruesome moment a golden tree snake swallowed another pregnant snake that was two times bigger.

Onlooker Supassorn Chaiyung recorded the two reptiles having a silent battle in her backyard in Chonburi, eastern Thailand.

Footage shows the smaller serpent trying to gulp the bigger one, which was believed to be pregnant because of its expanded torso.

Residents were excited about the rare incident. One said: "I have never seen a small snake eating a big snake like this before."

The winner apparently could not take in its giant meal as it had regurgitated it after a few minutes of trying to swallow.


Supassorn said: "The golden tree snake later spat its food out because of its body's length that was quite shorter than the giant it ate."
