On August 8, residents of Khabarovsk for the fifth Saturday in a row went to a rally not coordinated with the authorities in support of the former head of the region Sergey Furgal, accused of organizing the murders of businessmen.
The start of the rally, as in the case of previous actions, was scheduled for 12:00 (05:00 Moscow time). By this time, about 2 thousand people had gathered at the building of the regional government on Lenin square.
After that, they began to March through the Central streets of the city. The demonstrators, as before, demanded an open trial for Furgal in Khabarovsk, not in Moscow. They chanted the slogans " This is our choice!", "Freedom!" and " Fair trial in Khabarovsk!".
An hour later, the protesters gathered again at the regional government building. However, by that time the crowd had thinned considerably — many of the demonstrators had gone home after the March.
According to the Khabarovsk administration, a total of 2.8 thousand people took part in an unauthorized rally in support of the former head of the region.
