Security forces are firing tear gas and clashing with stone-throwing demonstrators in Beirut. The confrontation comes amid mounting fury over the massive explosion that devastated large parts of the Lebanese capital. Nearly 160 people died from Tuesday’s explosion, dozens are still missing and around 5,000 people injured. Thousands of people have poured into Beirut’s main square, where symbolic nooses have been put up for the officials they say should be hanged over this week’s deadly blast. The country’s ruling class is blamed for widespread corruption, incompetence and mismanagement that contributed to the explosion, the biggest in Lebanon’s history.

"Even with all the tragedies that we are facing in lebanon; from the explosion that led to +100 martyrs/+4000 injured/ +300.000 homeless to the poor basic life needs: water/electricity/food/ social security.. to the Lira fluctuation and the unemployment rate in lebanon...seeing young people donating, volunteering and raising funds to help out those who are in need, seeing people going to the downtown on saturday the 8th of august to protest", said Gadou, the author of the video.
