Square-lipped (or White) Rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum) love to wallow, covering their thick hides with mud to cool down, and to protect themselves from biting flies (clegs), ticks and other irritating bloodsuckers. White Rhinos, particularly females, are sociable and are often seen feeding and wallowing together. These three adult Rhinos (two females and a much larger male on the right) were wallowing contentedly together in a muddy pan in Pilanesberg National Park.
