A rare two headed russels viper snake was rescued by the Wildlife rescue foundation at Thane in Maharashtra.

The rare two headed venomous reptile was spotted by a local resident who called the rescuers as it was a highly venomous snake.

The snake was rescued by the wildlife organization to be later handed over to the forest officials.

As per the wildlife officials the snake measured 11cm in length and 1 cm width with each head measuring 2 centimetres.

The wildlife experts said the snake was a rare species and it is tough to survive for such creatures born with such an abnormality.

Two heads in a single body creates a tussle making it tough for the crawler to survive.

The viper would be studied and investigated further at the Haffkine institute of Parel
