Rescue operations have been hampered as in search of five people are missing after heavy rain caused a landslide in Karnataka's Kodogu district.
Heavy rains continued to create massive floods and landslides in Kodagu, affecting normal life and road connectivity on sunday too. There have been landslides at more than 30 places in the past three days according to Kodagu DC Annies Kanmani Joy.
The situation is expected to worsen in coastal and Malnad regions as the Met department sounded a red alert for Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru and Hassan, forecasting heavy to extremely heavy rains in the next 24 hours.
