Walking Tour of Weeting Castle on the Norfolk/Suffolk Border (well, what's left of it!)

Weeting Castle is actually the remains of a large moated manor house. The grounds are kept by English Heritage.

The site was first occupied by a Saxon settlement in the late 10th or early 11th century, but around 1180 the de Plais family constructed a fortified manor house. It used to comprise of a three-storey tower, a substantial hall, and a service block, with a separate kitchen positioned near the house.

This is just a walk around on a nice sunny day showing the remains and surrounding area including views of the lovely Norman church (although tower erected during Victorian times). There is also footage of the creepy ice house. Wouldn't like to be there at night!

If you go, it's free, located off a dirt road and there are no facilities (e.g. no cafe, gift shop or toilets). You will need to get up some steps and get through some double return gates known as kissing gates. These only allow one person through at a time.
