Lighting struck a large oil storage tanker at a refinery in Puertollano, Spain on Monday (August 10), causing a large fire.

Footage shows the Repsol petrochemical complex in Puertollano billowing thick black smoke after a bolt of lightning from an earlier storm struck the refinery.

Local reports confirmed that the emergency services concluded there were no injuries and the incident is now under control.

Lightning caused by the storm that occurred this morning caused a fire by reaching a diesel tank inside the Puertollano petrochemical complex, in Ciudad Real.Although there were no injuries, a warning message has been sent to the Military Emergency Unit in case it had to act.

As reported by the 112 Castile-La Mancha, the smoke nine can be seen from the entire town and the complex’s extinguishing services are currently operating. The Emergency services have added that no people are affected.
