STORYLINE:

After five months of inactivity this Monday the training sessions for Argentine football are back, after the agreement reached between the Football Argentine Association (AFA in Spanish) and the national government. First Division clubs will comply with strict protocols and sanitary measures to avoid contagion in the framework of the coronavirus pandemic.

In this framework, as a result of the tests carried out during the weekend for the return to activity, at least eleven positive cases were detected among the players. Such is the case of Agustín Almendra (Boca), Ezequiel Centurión (River), Fabricio Bustos (Independent), Thiago Almada and Ricky Álvarez (both from Vélez), Federico Torres, Franco Quinteros and Nicolás Linares (Banfield), Iván Bolaño and Diego Morales (Tigre) and Mauricio Duarte (Defense and Justice).

The Minister of Health, Ginés González García, indicated that "if necessary, going back with football activity is not ruled out", after the first cases of coronavirus registered in different campuses, after the first tests carried out on their football players.

"Just as there are places in the country that are phenomenal and to which many wanted to go to train before, we want the contagion not to happen to us, but we have to see what happens when there are training sessions with football," González García warned.

This Monday, through a publication in the Official Gazette, the National Government formally reported the return to training of the First Division campuses of AFA.

According to Administrative Decision 1442/2020, the people affected by the training activity of the Football Association (AFA) are exempt from "compliance with 'social, preventive and compulsory isolation' and the prohibition of circulating, under the terms of this administrative decision".

And it is clarified that "in all cases, hygiene must be guaranteed, and when appropriate the organization of shifts and sports training modes that guarantee the necessary distancing measures to reduce the risk of contagion of Covid-19".
